Scouting Opportunities

Boy Scout Troop 2

Boy Scouts of America established the Bucktail Council in 1930, with Troop 2 being one of the first recognized troops. Our church is proud of our long standing tradition of scouting. Since 1930, we have boasted 76 Eagle Scouts from our Troop. A long time scouting family donated and created the Gilmore Scout Room situated in the basement of the church, where generations of young men have learned invaluable life skills.

If you are looking to get your son (ages 11 to 17) into a great program that gets them out of the house, teaches them outdoor skills, and how to be a good citizen, please consider joining Troop 2. You can contact Scoutmaster Andrew Jenkins at 814-761-3000 or [email protected]

Cub Scout Pack 2

Your son can start his scouting path as early as preschool by entering the Cub Scouts. This program is for preschool through fifth graders, and involves many outings and activities through the year such as, pinewood derby races, winter camp, rain gutter regatta, summer day camp and much more. The boys are separated into Dens by age, and each Den meets at different time, typically on Sunday afternoons. The entire Cub Scout Pack comes together for a Pack meeting the 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.  The boys work on individual skills as a group and own their own to earn belt loops, patches, and awards. You’ll find your son learning skills that he’ll use for a life time such as first aid, building a campfire, preparing for emergencies, using a pocket knife, and developing a love for all things outdoors.
